For the first time, the Awards will introduce a prize for foreign literature translated into the Russian language
A top Russian marketing and public relations agency, invited Russian and foreign media to an event devoted to a brand new Yasnaya Polyana Awards nomination – a prize for foreign literature translated into Russian. The new nomination was recommended by Rose in order to expand publicity for the Awards in Russia as well introduce them to the world stage. The Museum-Estate of Leo Tolstoy and Samsung Electronics, together with Rose, established the Award in 2003. For thirteen years the Agency has helped to turn the Annual “Yasnaya Polyana” (Leo Tolstoy) Literary Awards into Russia’s preeminent cultural prize.
At the event, the “long list” of nominees for 2015 was announced, which includes 33 works by writers from Great Britain, France, Italy, Spain, USA, etc. These nominations will be further reduced to one nominee and a 1 mln roubles prize will be given to the winning writer and 200,000 roubles to the translator of the work at the annual Yasnaya Polyana Award ceremony in October.
"For 13 years we have supported the Annual “Yasnaya Polyana” (Leo Tolstoy) Literary Awards in Russian media. With the introduction of this new Foreign Literature nomination, we will expand our purview to international media,” said Galina Savina, Rose General director. “It's going to be an exciting year for Samsung and the agency as we launch the “Yasnaya Polyana” Literary Awards on the world stage and further expand Leo Tolstoy’s great legacy.”
